Investec Cape Town Art Fair 2022 Sections

Tomorrows/Today is dedicated to highlighting the practices of emerging and under-represented artists, curated by Luigi Fassi and Nkule Mabaso. "Tomorrows/Today is characterized as a hub, a place in which decisive artistic achievements are concentrated, as the title of the project suggests - between the now and the yet to come, or more precisely, to emphasize an anticipation of the future in the present." - Luigi Fassi and Nkule Mabaso.

SOLO will explore how artists have reacted to intimacy and introspection caused by the pandemic, as well as the effect that exchange and collaboration have on artistic practice as a whole. SOLO is an extension of Investec Cape Town Art Fair’s project, Insight-out, launched in 2020 - a playful Q&A addressed to artists during isolation highlighting their everyday lives.

Past/Modern introduces a guest-curated programme by curator João Ferreira featuring presentations by Modern masters.

ALT debuts in 2022 and is dedicated to projects that reflect the many ways in which the art world had to adapt in response to the global shift from physical to virtual. Young, non-traditional exhibitors have the opportunity to showcase their artists in a nonconventional way, though in the conventional setting of an Art Fair, opening a dialogue on representation and physical versus virtual connection.

The Editions section showcases leading print galleries and workshops that specialise in prints, multiples, and editions. Participating in Editions this year is: 50ty/50ty/ (Cape Town, South Africa), Artist Proof Studio (Johannesburg, South Africa), ArtThrob (Cape Town, South Africa), Asele Institute (Nimo, Nigeria), Dale Sargent Fine Art (Johannesburg, South Africa), LL Editions Contemporary (Johannesburg, South Africa), Samuel Maenhoudt Gallery (Brussels, Belgium) and South Atlantic Press (Cape Town, South Africa).

Cultural Platforms presents the work of cultural institutions and non-profit organisations that nurture and support artistic production in the region through exhibitions and artist residencies.

The Magazines & Publications section showcases magazines, books, journals, and catalogues presented by publishers from around the world with a focus on art.

Look out for dedicated newsletters in the coming weeks on our curated sections. We are excited to welcome you to Investec Cape Town Art Fair 2022.

Kind Regards,

Investec Cape Town Art Fair
